General Incentive Objective

 

The call aims to support Business R&D operations (industrial research and experimental development) in Alentejo Litoral aligned with climate and energy transitions, fostering:

→Creation of new sustainable products, processes or services or improvement of existing ones.
→Effective collaboration between SMEs and research and innovation system entities (R&I Entities).
→Economic valorisation of knowledge and boosting R&D intensity in the regional business fabric.

 

Supported Typologies

 

Industrial research and experimental development activities led by SMEs (individually or co-promoted with R&I Entities), focused on Agrifood, Renewable Energies, and Tourism sectors.

→Industrial Research projects focused on acquiring new knowledge and skills.
→Experimental Development projects conducted to create or improve products, processes or services.
→Preparatory actions for the economic, industrial, and technological base responding to climate/energy transitions.

 

Eligible Expenses

 
✓Costs with technical staff of the beneficiary dedicated to R&D activities and research fellows.
✓Acquisition of patents from external sources at market prices and effective endogenisation.
✓Raw materials, consumable materials, and components for prototype/pilot facility construction.
✓Third-party services, technical/scientific assistance, consulting, and open innovation platforms.
✓Instruments, technical-scientific equipment, and specific software for the operation.
✓Registration and maintenance of patents, utility models, designs, or industrial models.
✓Costs with promotion and dissemination of operation results to end-user sectors.
✓Certification of R&D management system (NP 4457:2021) and certified accountant/auditor fees.
✓Indirect costs calculated at a flat rate of 7% on eligible direct costs.

+Company Size: +20 p.p. (Micro/Small) or +10 p.p. (Medium enterprises).
+Effective Collaboration or Wide Dissemination: +15 p.p. when co-promoted between SMEs/R&I Entities or results widely published.
+R&I Entities in Co-promotion: Rate up to 85% without indirect State aid.

✓Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SME) of any legal form with organized accounting.
✓Non-business entities in the research and innovation system (R&I Entities) as co-promoters.
