Yesterday, the winning companies of the 6th edition of the SME Heroes Awards were revealed in a ceremony held by the Tagus River, at the Envy restaurant.

In the year when the General SME Heroes category awarded three companies according to their size for the first time, it presented NBI – Natural Business Intelligence as the winner of the Micro-enterprise subcategory - a business and ecology consultancy specialising in creating options for a nature-based economy, with decades of work on projects linked to nature in a business context. The second and third places in this subcategory were occupied by Ótica Maxivisão and ONECOM, respectively.

In the Small Company subcategory, Cocktail Team won, a company that is today a reference across borders and has supported and improved the quality of bar service, working on small, medium, and large-scale projects, including bars, restaurants, and hotels. The second and third places in this subcategory were occupied by Olimec and Luzimeca, respectively.

Finally, in the Medium-sized Company subcategory, the spotlight went to Code for All, which operates in the tech education area, offering a vast range of programming courses and reaching people from the most diverse market areas. The second and third places in this subcategory were occupied by Dreammedia and Inaceinox, respectively.

Olimec was the big winner of the S Factor - Sustainability. Specialising in the sale, repair, and maintenance of heavy equipment, as well as industrial maintenance, it offers sector players a vast range of services and products, in a personalised and innovative way. The second and third places in this category awarded Luzimeca and NBI, respectively.

Mestrimagem – DAUTI won first place in the Digital Transformation category. In the market since 1999, it operates in the clothing, footwear, accessories, and other professional textiles sector, providing unique and personalised products that meet companies' values and corporate image, regardless of the activity sector they are in. The second and third places in this category were occupied by Portal da Queixa and Grupo CCR, respectively.

In the Internationalisation category, the winner was Innovation Makers. With 14 years of activity and over 80 technological and innovation projects, it is a reference in developing solutions in various countries. With a multidisciplinary team in the areas of engineering, management, social sciences, and design, its mission is to transform the financial sector through a constant relationship with the client. The second and third place awards in this category were delivered to WDMI and Portal da Queixa, respectively.

Finally, Barkyn was the awarded Startup. Founded in 2017, it arrived to transform the pet market e-commerce ecosystem, until then fragmented and without personalisation. It provides a tailored nutritional plan, with food and supplementation, supported by veterinarians, who calculate, adjust, and monitor the animals' adaptation and health. Second place in this category belonged to Brainr.

Launched in 2016, the SME Heroes initiative has allowed awarding SMEs as examples of entrepreneurship and a wealth-generating force, distinguishing their best practices and resilience capacity even in the most adverse contexts. Including this year's edition, it totals over 600 applications representing a turnover of around 770 million euros and over 7,300 employees.
The 6th edition of SME Heroes counted on the support of VICTORIA Seguros, SAGE, PRA - Raposo, Sá Miranda & Associados, ActionCoach, Reorganiza, Portuguese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Startup Portugal and Association of Professional Olympic Athletes.
