PT2030: €101.5 Million for Incentives for Research and Development in Companies

RTD is a financial incentive intended to foster the companies' R&D rate, financing industrial research and experimental development activities, leading to the creation of new products, processes, or systems or the introduction of significant improvements in existing products, processes, or systems. Some eligible expenses:

✅ Technical personnel costs

✅ Acquisition of raw materials

✅ Costs with prototype development

✅ Acquisition of technical material and software for research

✅ Presence at international events for the presentation of studies

 

At this moment, we already have a Notice Plan for the next 12 months within the scope of SIID – Business R&D – Individual Operations and in Co-promotion:

SIID – Business R&D – Individual Operations – Low Density and Other Territories: Individual research and development projects have the opportunity to proceed with their application starting from November 2023, with analyses and decisions divided into four phases. Innovation is within your reach.

Global Allocation: 41 million euros

 

SIID – Business R&D – Co-promotion Operations – Low Density and Other Territories: If your company is involved in research and development activities in partnership with other entities, the application period begins as early as November 2023.

Global Allocation: 60.5 million euros

 

For both types of calls:

Maximum incentive rate: 80%

 

Eligible actions

Industrial research and/or experimental development activities, leading to the creation of new products, processes, or systems or the introduction of significant improvements in existing products, processes, or systems.

 

Regions
(Low Density Territories) North, Centre, Alentejo, Algarve

(Other Territories) - NUTS II Regions of the Mainland (North, Centre, Lisbon, Alentejo, and Algarve), outside the low-density territories defined by CIC Portugal 2020 (Low Density Territories). Under this Notice, operations with more than one establishment may also include investments located in low-density territories, provided that the weight of these investments is minority.

 

Beneficiary entities: SMEs and Small Mid-Caps.

In the case of applications submitted in co-promotion, ENESII (Entities of the National Research and Innovation System) are also beneficiaries, including those from the autonomous regions of the Azores and Madeira, in the case of operations funded by the Innovation and Digital Transition Programme.

 

4 Analysis and decision phases over the next 12 months: 

Phase 1: Exclusive to Request for Aid Registration (RPA) – Nov/2023 to 31.01.2024

Phase 2: 01.02.2024 to 30.04.2024

Phase 3: 01.05.2024 to 31.08.2024

Phase 4: 01.09.2024 to 31.12.2024
