50 Million Euros for the promotion of Sustainable Tourism

Promoting Sustainability in Tourism through the Tourism +Sustainable Line

In the current landscape, where environmental sustainability is a growing global concern, the tourism sector is not immune to this trend. Conscious of the importance of promoting sustainable practices, the Tourism +Sustainable Line ("Linha Turismo + Sustentável"), managed by Banco Português de Fomento (BPF), is an ambitious initiative with an allocation of 50 million euros aimed at boosting investments in environmental sustainability.

1. Investment Typologies

With a significant allocation of 50 million euros, the Tourism +Sustainable Line offers mutual guarantee financing for companies wishing to invest in projects focused on environmental sustainability:

  • Investments in the fields of water management, energy management, sustainable mobility, waste management, circular economy, and biodiversity.
  • Operations must include at least investment in the "Water Management" or "Energy Management" category; applications where the investment corresponds exclusively to interventions within the scope of other categories are not eligible.

2. Investment Amounts

With a maximum amount per company of €750,000 and a maximum guarantee percentage granted by the Mutual Guarantee Society (SGM) of up to 80%, companies have the opportunity to undertake ambitious projects that contribute to environmental preservation (counter-guarantee percentage granted by the FCGM is 80%).

3. Beneficiaries

The Tourism +Sustainable Line is available to a wide diversity of companies, SMEs, Small Mid-Caps, Mid-Caps, and Large Companies under the conditions to be verified in the terms of the agreement for granting mutual guarantees and specific conditions of this support line, and which are registered in the Tourism 360º Companies Programme.

4. Specific Conditions

  1. The term of the Mutual Guarantee Line is 12 months (renewable).
  2. Beneficiary companies can enjoy a loan term of up to 180 months, with a grace period of up to 48 months, providing flexibility to implement and capitalize on their sustainable projects.
  3. Integration of the Tourism 360º Companies Programme: The Tourism 360º Companies Programme aims to guide companies in the tourism sector in adopting sustainable practices and non-financial reporting. By integrating ESG factors into their organizational culture and business strategy, companies can create value not only for themselves but also for all stakeholders. Tools such as FOREST - Organizational Tool and Reporting of Sustainability in Tourism, provide technological support and sectoral performance metrics to help companies monitor and report their progress in sustainability.
