Talents Y - Get to know the other side of Manuel Pereira

Tell us a little bit about your journey, where you come from, what your background is, where you studied, and how long you have been with Yunit?

I come from Canelas, a parish in Vila Nova de Gaia. I did my degree in Sports Management and always imagined myself in a field related to sport. However, during this course, I developed a passion for management and administration. Thus, I recently completed my Master's in Economics and Business Administration. I joined Yunit in February 2024 for a curricular internship included in my Master's curriculum. Currently, and because I enjoyed my experience during the curricular internship immensely, I am undertaking a professional internship.

Tell us about a project or moment that particularly motivated you or challenged you in an unexpected way.

I don't have a specific project that left a mark on me; however, I like to look back and see my evolution and professional development since the moment I started this adventure. As I had no prior experience in this area, all the projects were quite challenging and rewarding in the end.

How would you describe Yunit's culture?

Yunit's culture, besides being quite welcoming, is informal. There is a very strong team spirit where it is possible to combine your personal development with a good atmosphere.

What advice would you give to someone who has just landed at Yunit? 

Don't be afraid to ask questions! All your colleagues are quite approachable and are happy to help you with whatever you need!

If you hadn't gone into working at a Consultancy, is there any other sector of activity you would have chosen?

If I hadn't joined a consultancy, I would have liked to be involved in the gaming/esports area or in dance.

Tell us about a hobby you have or an activity you really want to do one day!

I have been a ballroom dancer since I was 10 years old, having participated in various competitions over the years.

What book, trip, or other activity recommendation was memorable for you and would you like to share with us?

I am not a very avid reader; however, I highly recommend the book "A Slow Fire Burning" [Portuguese title: Um Fogo Lento]. It was the only book that gripped me from start to finish, and I couldn't stop reading.

What is your idea of happiness? Being in the company of my family.

What is your most striking feature? I am a very calm and patient person.

Which trait do you like most in yourself? The trait I like most in myself is my sense of humour.

Which trait do you like most in others? As someone who likes to be constantly laughing, I appreciate it when others also have a sense of humour.

If you could choose a superhero power, what would it be? I think it would be fun to have super speed.

What can't you live without? Hanging out with my brother.
