Talents Y - Get to know the other side of Guilherme Amorim

Tell us a little bit about your journey, where you come from, what your background is, where you studied, and how long you have been with Yunit?

I am a native of Porto, the city where I grew up, although I have roots spread across the four corners of the country. I graduated in Management and completed my Master's in Marketing at the Catholic University of Portugal. Throughout my career, I have accumulated about four years of experience in incentives consulting, having also worked in Marketing, Sales, and Management Control. I have always had a special interest in financial areas, but with an equally strong taste for the relational and communicational aspects of management and economics. Before my professional life in consulting, I was a basketball athlete for 15 years, even representing the National Team in a European Championship. I started my journey at Yunit in January of this year, having recently completed eight months with the team.

Tell us about a project or moment that particularly motivated you or challenged you in an unexpected way.

Right in the first few days of working in this area, I was challenged with a large-scale European project, which required the simultaneous analysis of legislation from different countries, as well as technical mastery of various community funding lines. Despite the high technical demand, I managed to meet expectations, which made the experience extremely rewarding, especially for the sense of duty accomplished. This initial challenge, although intense, was a great motivation booster to deepen my knowledge in the different types of funding, both national and European, with the aim of always keeping myself prepared and up to the task.

How would you describe Yunit's culture?

Yunit's culture is extremely distinctive, providing all the tools and know-how necessary for agile integration, both into the team and the company's dynamics. Every person's opinion is truly valued, regardless of their position or experience, which contributes to an innovative, young, and welcoming environment. The autonomy granted in the development of work is also a highly motivating factor, as it significantly accelerates everyone's evolution as a professional. There is positive energy in the day-to-day and a genuine openness to learn, grow, and collaborate.

What advice would you give to someone who has just landed at Yunit?

Explore, question, and don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. Here, learning is part of the journey and the team is always ready to support. Get involved from day one — that's how growth begins.

If you hadn't gone into working at a Consultancy, is there any other sector of activity you would have chosen?

I probably would have pursued a career in a marketing agency, where I could explore the more creative and dynamic side of management, or else in an area linked to sports management, due to the strong connection I maintain with sports and the enthusiasm for combining passion with strategy.

Tell us about a hobby you have or an activity you really want to do one day!

I love travelling and exploring new cities, especially outside Portugal. One of my big dreams is to go backpacking through Southeast Asia.

What book, trip, or other activity recommendation was memorable for you and would you like to share with us?

In 2017, I went on an Interrail trip through Europe with a group of friends, an experience I highly recommend. It was a memorable trip, full of different cultures and experiences, where every day we explored a new city or country for a month.
