Talent Y - Get to know the other side of Virgínia Duarte

Tell us a little bit about your journey, where you come from, what your background is, where you studied, and how long you have been with Yunit?

I graduated in Business Management from Universidade Internacional, a 5-year pre-Bologna degree. I immediately went into a consultancy firm, where I grew as a professional and as a person. After 16 years, I wanted to experience something new and joined a real estate development company. I really enjoyed the area, which led me to take an MBA in real estate valuation. After this period, the opportunity arose to join the financial department of a company linked to security consultancy.

This experience brought me comprehensive knowledge regarding how a finance department functions and how it should be organised. But I also realised that the area that fulfils me the most is undoubtedly Consulting and Corporate Finance, and that is how I joined Yunit in February 2024.

Tell us about a project or moment that particularly motivated you or challenged you in an unexpected way.

Personally, managing to get an MBA while working and having a family, something I always thought would be very difficult, but I realised that on the contrary, it was challenging and motivating.

At Yunit, the last quarter of last year, which was also quite ambitious, and which we managed to achieve, thanks to the team's effort and persistence..

How would you describe Yunit's culture?

What advice would you give to someone who has just landed at Yunit? 

Ask about any doubts you have; we are a team and we share problems and their resolution.

If you hadn't gone into working at a Consultancy, is there any other sector of activity you would have chosen?

Tell us about a hobby you have or an activity you really want to do one day!

I would like to own a Gymnastics club; I am a fan of the sport, especially acrobatics and Gymnastics for All, which comprises various gymnastic disciplines and promotes healthy leisure, well-being, and team spirit.

What book, trip, or other activity recommendation was memorable for you and would you like to share with us?

I am not much of a reader, except for subjects and topics related to economics and Finance. I spend my leisure moments watching series and lately, the one that made the biggest impression on me was "Adolescência" [Adolescence], due to the production itself, the actors' performance, which make it so realistic, and the various messages conveyed about the state of our current society and teenagers. I strongly recommend it, especially for parents with young children. It is a wake-up call!
